We are a class of Year 3's. We love Sunnybrae Normal school, and our teacher's name is Mrs Barlow. Our school is in Hillcrest Auckland. We love to sing, dance, and challenge ourselves- one of these ways is by using ICT.

Room 14 children as Teachers
Over the fourth term Room 14 are teaching each other something they are good at. here is a picture of Chloe teaching us Sign Language.
This is helping us with writing and sharing instructions and feeling confident to speak and teach the class.
Police Officer Comes to visit
This week Room 14 had a Police Officer come to visit us as part of our unit on Keeping Ourselves Safe.
She focussed on Internet Safety.
She said we must not give any of our personal details on the internet, these include:
Home phone number, address, name, school, age, email address, passwords, hobbies or photo.
She also showed us Hectors World- which is on our delicious, as a way to keep safe on the internet. When we see something on the internet we do not like we must immediately tell an adult and turn off the computer screen.

The Super Hero Parade
On the last day of Term three the whole Middle Syndicate had a super hero parade. Everybody had to come to school dressed up as a made up character or....... someone real like batman or black and white girl.We had to walk around the hall while all the other classes had a look at our costumes. We had a wonderful day on the last day of term three and a great holiday as well.

Playing soccer with Room 16
On Tuesday Room 14 and 16 played a game of soccer to finish our unit on soccer skills. Mrs Bennett was the referee. It was a great game because everyone tried really hard. Mrs Barlow was so impressed with the way everyone got into the game and had fair play skills. The children who play soccer out of school had amazing skills. At the end of the game we got into a huddle and did three cheers for the opposing team.

Our Amazing Art Gallery Trip
On Friday Room 14 went to the art gallery. We had to wait for the bus for ages and we had morning tea on the footpath. The bus got canceled but we got another bus. When we arrived a lady came to us and took us to the studio. She asked us to get our art shirts out of our bags. We did some art at the studio. Then we crossed the road to see Michelle and look at the art work in the gallery. The problem was that we couldn't find Robyn Kahukiwa's work. We started at 9:15AM and left at 1:00PM

Fractions
We have been learning fractions for maths we are starting to get really good at it. We love it so much, that we wish we could do it all day. We did a maths test on Friday for basic facts. Room 14 have been
busy practicing fractions for homework this week. This is a photo of Jessy doing her fractions with the sticks. We know that the bigger the number on the bottom (the denominator) the smaller piece or fraction.
We can use fractions in groups for example half of 10 equals 5. Mrs Barlow has been teaching us very well. We have had lots of fun. Room 14 have a fraction wall on the window. It is nearly maths time and we are excited. We have been doing maths fraction worksheets and small groups with the teacher.
Room 14 have been working on measuring too.

Room 14 and Mr Barnes Meeting.
We are trying to make more native birds come into our bush.
Jacques's Grandpa drew a bird feeder that we could make but it was too hard for us.
So we invited Mr Barnes to help us.
We invited Mr Barnes because he's a expert.
We had a meeting and we shared our ideas with him.
He said he could make it- but we don't expect him to make it too soon as he is very busy.

Our Narrative Writing by Room 14
Rm 14 are writing a narrative by photos. Look at our wiki soon for our narratives. It would be a pleasure for you to look on our wiki. There might be some other things you might want to look at as well. We are doing a story about a place called toy land. We are using descriptive language in our narratives. On the day we took the photo's we had to bring toys. We are now writing our stories and we want to make them into movies. Here is a photo of one part of our story. What do you think is happening?

We have now finished our stretch people and they look fantastic. Then we wrote about our stretch people. Yewon's Stretch Person's name is Mrs Long and she loves to stretch to other buildings.
Jacques Stretch person' s name is Dan the devil dancer. He likes to eat teachers- which scares Mrs Barlow.
Our Stretch people are hanging up in Room 14 and you are welcome to see them.
Thankyou to Room 11 - our buddy class for helping us.

Stretch People
On Friday our class made Stretch People. It was exciting and Chloe made up a rhyme about the activity- it says "Jack in the box, Jack in the box, open the lid and out he pops".
Our teacher saw it in a book about making stretch people so that we could learn about measuring in centimetres. If we were not accurate in our measuring the bodies did not turn out right.
We did not finish our stretch people so we will show you a photo of the finished bodies soon.
Joe & Yong Chan took photos of our class doing the activity.
We needed lots of coloured paper and scissors and glue.
We enjoyed our stretch people making!

MOTAT Trip
Today we visited Motat. We did "The Great Race" to learn and try to save our environment. We had to find clues and do activities such as wrapping a parcel in paper and carry horse poo!! It was so much fun. In the afternoon we went on the Tram and looked around the rest of the museum.
Thankyou to our parent helpers who were again wonderful. Thankyou also to the weather which was stunning.

Tuff Crater Trip
Today the Middle Syndicate got up at the crack of dawn and met at school @ 6.15am. We all drove down to Tuff Crater in Northcote hoping to hear the birds wake up. Room 14 had been practising walking in the bush and their teacher and parents were very proud of their whispered voices and quiet feet. We saw Fantails, Kingfishers, a Falcon and much more. We were tired by the end and some of us got a bit muddy, but it was great fun. The week leading up to the trip we had designed healthy breakfast menus and we had a enormous appetite to go back to school and eat cereal, fruit, toast and waffles. We cheered our parents for their help and support on the trip.
Have a look at our great poems on the wiki!!
